On October 15, it was reported that the 2026 World Energy Storage Conference opened in Ningde, Fujian. Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out in his speech that China's new energy storage industry has achieved remarkable results. In the future, it will coordinate development and safety, strengthen technological innovation, be demand-oriented, jointly build a global ecosystem, avoid 'involutionary' competition, and promote the industry's shift from scale expansion to innovation-driven growth. According to Xiong Jijun, in terms of industrial scale, energy storage battery production exceeded 420 gigawatt-hours in the first half of 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 110%. As of the end of June 2026, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage exceeded 153 million kilowatts, a 50-fold increase from the early stages of the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
