Apple has officially launched the latest iterations of its smartwatches—the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4—and has shared comprehensive technical details about the powerhouse behind these new devices: the cutting-edge S11 system-in-package (SiP) chip. Building upon the T8310 architecture, the S11 chip boasts a 64-bit dual-core processor, a 4-core neural engine, and support for second-generation Ultra Wideband technology, along with a generous 64GB of storage space. Compared to its predecessor, the S11 chip delivers approximately 20% higher performance while reducing power consumption by 15%. For cellular communication, the S11 chip has transitioned from an Intel 4G baseband to a MediaTek 5G baseband. This new baseband is a quarter of the size of its predecessor, offering greater integration. This not only enhances communication capabilities but also optimizes internal space within the watch. Moreover, the S11 chip incorporates a new secure enclave specifically designed for audio processing, enabling the innovative features found in the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
