On Tuesday, Chime made an announcement stating that it has inked a deal to purchase Stride Bank at a price of $590 million. Once the transaction is finalized, the bank will undergo a name change and be known as Chime Bank. In the fintech industry, numerous companies depend on licensed banks to carry out their operations. This acquisition presents a strategic move for Chime. It will enable Chime to cut down on the service fees associated with its partnerships, reduce its dependence on external collaborators, minimize capital expenses, and gain greater control over its service procedures. The deal is projected to be wrapped up in the first half of 2027, subject to obtaining regulatory approval.
