Developers have launched the NES Radar project, which transforms idle Nintendo Entertainment Systems (NES) into real-time air traffic radars. Users simply input the four-letter ICAO code of any airport using the NES controller and press Start, and the TV screen will display real-time flight movements near that airport, supporting airports worldwide. The NES itself does not connect directly to the internet; instead, it connects to a computer running a small server, using a 5V FTDI USB serial cable to transmit flight data from the computer to the NES controller port, enabling this functionality. A complete tutorial is available on the project's GitHub page.
