Recently, in the trademark infringement dispute between the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) and the startup Operation Bluebird, a federal district judge in Delaware, U.S., reached a compromise decision. The judge issued a preliminary injunction that temporarily bars Operation Bluebird from using the name ‘Twitter’ and associated logos to promote its social media services. Nevertheless, the court is of the opinion that the X platform has probably, in fact, relinquished its trademark rights to the term ‘Tweet’ and the iconic bird symbol, thereby temporarily allowing the startup to keep using these two logos.
