From August 31 to September 2, Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Ji led a Chinese delegation to engage in economic and trade consultations in Beijing with a European delegation headed by Deputy Director-General Redonnet of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Trade and Economic Security, in preparation for the second meeting of the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism. The China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism issued a joint statement at its inaugural meeting on June 29, 2026, establishing a new positioning (positioning) of a 'stable and balanced key trade partnership between China and the EU.' Both sides agreed to hold one to two ministerial-level meetings annually and are currently engaged in intensive consultations to promote the achievement of pragmatic outcomes at the second meeting.
