On Wednesday, a federal judge dismissed a request to split up Google's advertising technology business, providing a respite for the search giant. Previously, although multiple courts had ruled that Google held a monopoly in key areas of the online economy, US District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema in Alexandria, Virginia, after ruling in April 2025 that Google constituted a monopoly in some online advertising sales markets, rejected in her latest ruling the government's demands to split up the company and open up some of its platforms. Brinkema stated that she would adopt 'behavioral remedies,' and the judge's full ruling and details of the remedies will remain confidential for two weeks.
