On August 27, Microsoft rolled out the optional KB5120998 update for Windows 11, upgrading the system to Build 26200.9278 (25H2) and Build 26100.9278 (24H2). This update marks the largest one for Windows 11 this year, introducing features such as a resizable Start menu, a movable taskbar, and a Windows search function that removes Bing and pre-installed software. However, a significant number of users have reported mouse cursor abnormalities following the update, including cursor disappearance, size changes, and color resets. Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and launched an investigation, with affected users reporting that the problem disappears after uninstalling the update. Additionally, the update has been found to reset desktop wallpapers and cause font display abnormalities, for which Microsoft has not yet provided a response.
