On August 22, a remarkable stride was made in China's high-altitude wind power domain. The locally crafted S4000 floating wind power system triumphantly concluded full-process flight validation at a test facility in northwest China. This milestone signifies China's shift from technological refinement to practical engineering implementation in stratospheric high-altitude wind power technology. As an enhanced iteration of the S2000, the S4000 embodies a completely overhauled design, delivering significantly boosted performance. It is capable of ascending to a maximum altitude of 4,000 meters, rendering it apt for deployment across the majority of China's regions. This system can be seamlessly integrated into mainstream power grids and is engineered to have a lifespan of 20 years. At present, high-altitude wind power has been incorporated into the national renewable energy development blueprint for the 15th Five-Year Plan era, emerging as a pivotal focus within the realm of emerging clean energy technologies. The successful testing of the S4000 system not only bridges a gap in China's engineering application of high-altitude wind power but also fortifies clean energy supply capabilities in elevated regions.
