SpaceX's Starship retrieval trials have reached a pivotal juncture, marked by the successful recovery of the first-stage booster on several occasions. While the 'chopsticks-catching-rocket' technique still requires refinement in terms of success rate, its practicality has been confirmed. Nevertheless, the progress in retrieving the Starship's upper stage has been sluggish. During the 13th test mission in late July, the Starship spacecraft S40 executed its inaugural, flawless soft landing in the Indian Ocean, avoiding any explosion or rapid submersion, which significantly boosted the morale of the SpaceX team.
