Unitree Technology has unveiled its latest wheeled-legged quadruped robot, the Unitree As2-W. Building upon the As2 model released earlier this year, this robot features four additional active wheels, combining the speed and efficiency of wheeled mobility with the obstacle-crossing capabilities of a quadruped structure. It can adaptively switch modes to handle a variety of complex scenarios. The As2-W is capable of performing challenging maneuvers such as diving, walking on water, and lateral flipping, while also being able to carry heavy loads. Its body outline largely follows the design of the As2, but the ends of its legs are now equipped with 7-inch wheels. The number of joint motors has increased to 16, with a maximum joint torque of approximately 95 N·m and a top speed of around 6 m/s. It can climb obstacles up to 80 cm high and 45-degree slopes, weighs 25 kg, and has a maximum standing load capacity of about 150 kg, allowing it to carry the weight of approximately three adults. In terms of battery life, it can operate continuously for about 3 hours with no load, covering more than 30 km; with a load, it can last over 2 hours, covering more than 16 km. The As2-W is equipped with the ISS 3.0 intelligent lateral accompanying system, has an overall protection rating of IP54, and operates within a temperature range of -20°C to 55°C. The robot is available in two versions: the As2-W X and the As2-W EDU, with pricing yet to be announced.
