On July 9, news emerged that the G1 humanoid robot, crafted by China's Unitree Technology (Unitree), had triumphantly carried out the world's inaugural live surgical procedure abroad. Under the guidance of a research team from the University of California, San Diego, two Unitree G1 humanoid robots executed two cholecystectomy surgeries on sizable non-primate animals. The pertinent findings were unveiled in the esteemed journal Nature on July 8. During this groundbreaking experiment, the robots were maneuvered remotely by surgeons through a console, utilizing standard laparoscopic surgical tools. Notably, neither of the two surgeries necessitated a switch to conventional surgical techniques, thereby substantiating the viability of humanoid robots in the realm of surgical operations^[6]^.
