Google Shuts Down Tenor API, Affecting GIF Selectors in Multiple Apps

Google recently announced the official shutdown of the public API interface for its Tenor GIF library. This move has resulted in the disabling of the built-in GIF selection feature in several internet applications that rely on Tenor. As a GIF library similar to Giphy, Tenor allows users to search for a vast number of animated images via keywords. It is currently deeply integrated into Google's keyboard app Gboard and several web and app services. Google acquired Tenor in 2018 and has now decided to stop providing access to the Tenor API for third parties due to product strategy adjustments.
