According to the complaint, DJI has accused Insta360’s Luna series handheld gimbal cameras of infringing on two design patents and four invention patents. DJI asserts that several core features of Insta360’s Luna cameras—including the rotating screen design, gimbal mode switching, and target tracking—are suspected of infringing on patents DJI secured in the United States several years ago. In response, Insta360 Innovation has lodged a patent counterclaim against DJI in the U.S., involving five invention patents pertaining to gimbal and panoramic cameras. These patents cover critical technologies such as gimbal stabilization algorithms, gimbal pointing control, smooth camera anti-shake, motion data overlay, and panoramic video stabilization.
