Meta has completed its operational separation from Manus and ceased data sharing. Since the beginning of this month, Manus and its employees have been barred from accessing Meta's internal data systems, while Meta employees can no longer use Manus tools. Previously, Meta announced in December last year its acquisition of Butterfly Effect, Manus' parent company, for approximately $2 billion. However, in April this year, the acquisition was prohibited by the Office of the Foreign Investment Security Review Working Mechanism, which also demanded the transaction be revoked. CCTV News interpreted this move as aiming to prohibit non-compliant behaviors by companies engaging in 'quick-exit international expansion'.
