In May 2026, Foxconn's factory in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA, suffered a cyberattack. The ransomware group Nitrogen claimed responsibility for the attack and stole over 11 million files, totaling approximately 8TB. These files contained confidential instructions, project materials, and drawings from multiple clients, including Intel and Apple. After media analysis of the samples, it was found that the files mainly included materials from Foxconn's electrical engineering team, financial documents from the factory in Houston, Texas, and network topology documents for projects involving AMD, Intel, Google, and others. Although the impact of this security incident on Apple was relatively minor, the attackers had obtained files from factories such as the one in Houston, posing risks to cross-factory email or file-sharing servers. The attack has already impacted production, with the factory's network disrupted and operations halted for approximately one week before resuming.
