On May 12, 2026, reports surfaced indicating that China's proposed international standard project, Digitalization of Product Carbon Footprint (CFP) — Part 2: CFP Data Exchange Format and Guidelines, has officially commenced at the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This achievement signifies China's pioneering role in establishing an international benchmark for the digitalization of product carbon footprints. The standard aims to harmonize global CFP data exchange formats, enhance cross-system and cross-regional recognition and interoperability of carbon footprint information, and bolster the development of green, low-carbon trade frameworks and digital carbon management systems.
