Recently, a research team headed by Professor Wang Huichao from the School of Physics at Sun Yat-sen University, working in tandem with Associate Professor Li Shuai of China Three Gorges University, has made remarkable strides in the realm of quantum linear magnetoresistance (LMR) and high-temperature quantum transport studies. In a groundbreaking feat, their research has successfully demonstrated a high-temperature quantum LMR effect, which is triggered by phonon scattering under the stringent conditions of a strong magnetic field quantum limit. This novel mechanism stands apart from the previously identified physical underpinnings of LMR, shedding light on the pivotal function of electron-phonon interactions within the quantum limit region. Moreover, it opens up fresh avenues for the exploration of high-temperature quantum transport phenomena and the advancement of high-temperature quantum devices, paving the way for future innovations in this cutting-edge field.
