Microsoft’s newly appointed Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, is determined to reverse the downward trajectory of the gaming division. Over the past six quarters, Xbox has seen revenue decline year-on-year in four of those periods. Console sales in the first quarter of this year also lagged behind those of both Nintendo and Sony. In response, Sharma has announced a reshuffling of the leadership team, introducing four new executives with expertise in consumer markets and technical prowess from the core AI team she previously headed. These new appointments include Jared Palmer for product management and Tim Allen for design. At the same time, the existing executive team has undergone adjustments, with Kevin Gamill stepping down and Ron Thornes moving into an advisory capacity following a leave of absence. Furthermore, Sharma has unveiled a price cut for the Xbox Game Pass subscription service in a bid to draw in a larger player base.
