PayPal recently announced that through its PayPal Complete Payments platform, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Brazil can now directly offer Pix as a payment option at checkout. Pix, an instant payment system launched by the Central Bank of Brazil, has rapidly gained popularity since its debut in 2020. As of September 2025, it has processed approximately 196 billion transactions, totaling $16 trillion in value, accounting for one-third of Brazil's online sales value. PayPal's move aims to reduce payment friction, cater to Brazilian consumer preferences, and provide businesses with a high-conversion payment method that combines PayPal's security and global reach. Launched in Brazil in 2025, the platform integrates credit cards, local payment options, and business tools. With the addition of Pix, SMEs can now enjoy the dual advantages of a global payment network and a localized experience. This initiative also marks a significant step in PayPal's 15-year presence in Brazil, supporting its localization strategy for SMEs and aiming to capture market share in the highly competitive payment sector.
