On April 13th, following the release of the upstream Linux 7.0 kernel, the downstream free software version, GNU Linux-libre, promptly launched its 7.0-gnu kernel. This version continues the process of 'de-binarizing firmware' within the kernel, removing support for loading non-free software kernel modules and preventing the loading of all microcode and firmware. Although this move may weaken support for some hardware, its core objective remains steadfast in upholding the principles of software freedom.
