As reported by CCTV News, on March 31, the inaugural 10,800-vehicle LNG dual-fuel car carrier (PCTC), constructed by CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering (Group) Company Limited for South Korea's HMM, commenced its sea trials. This milestone event signifies the debut of the world's first 10,000-vehicle capacity dual-fuel car carrier currently in the construction phase.
The vessel boasts impressive dimensions, stretching 230 meters in length and 40 meters in width, with a structural draft of 10.5 meters. It is designed to cruise at an approximate speed of 19 knots. Featuring 14 decks of expansive garage space, the ship offers versatile loading capabilities for a diverse range of vehicles, encompassing electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks, with a maximum capacity of 10,800 vehicles.
Employing a cutting-edge dual-fuel propulsion system that utilizes both fuel oil and LNG, the vessel is outfitted with a shaft generator, ensuring outstanding environmental performance. It complies with the stringent International Maritime Organization's Tier Ⅲ emission standards. CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering (Group) Company Limited has successfully surmounted challenges in thin plate deformation control and achieved the localization of ro-ro equipment.
