SpaceX has recently verified that one of its satellites, designated as 34343, from the Starlink satellite internet constellation, encountered an anomaly while in orbit, resulting in a loss of communication. The space surveillance firm LeoLabs promptly detected the emergence of numerous objects in close proximity to the satellite, a telltale sign of an in-orbit breakup or explosion. Both SpaceX and the Starlink mission team are diligently probing the root cause of this incident, while maintaining a close watch on the satellite and any debris that can be tracked. The most recent assessment suggests that this event does not introduce any fresh hazards to the International Space Station and its crew, nor does it jeopardize the forthcoming Artemis 2 crewed lunar orbit mission.
