On March 24th, LankaPay, Sri Lanka’s national payment network, officially announced its integration with WeChat Pay. This development allows Chinese tourists to conveniently use WeChat Pay for their purchases at over 400,000 merchants throughout Sri Lanka that support the LANKAQR QR code. Presently, WeChat’s cross-border payment service extends its reach to 78 countries and regions globally, accommodating transactions in 36 different currencies and catering to a wide array of spending scenarios, including dining, shopping at department stores, and utilizing transportation services.
