At the 2026 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum, Han Bicheng, the founder and CEO of BrainCo, remarked that brain-computer interface (BCI) technology is on the verge of a critical breakthrough and is anticipated to address brain disease challenges, including sleep disorders and ADHD, within the next few years. This year's government work report made its first mention of brain-computer interfaces, sparking a flurry of collaborative development inquiries for the company. Han Bicheng expressed his belief that BCI could emerge as the next-generation interaction technology, but he also underscored the formidable challenges in its research and development. Citing smart prosthetics as an example, he noted that after nearly a decade of development, this product has already brought significant benefits to many disabled individuals. At present, BCI technology is rapidly expanding its reach from the medical field to the consumer market, although products targeting sleep and ADHD are still in the early stages of R&D. He highlighted that the primary barrier to widespread technology adoption is the payment system, necessitating efforts to reduce costs and promote insurance coverage.
