Maersk has declared that it will temporarily cease operations on two key container shipping routes: FM1, which connects the Far East to the Middle East, and ME11, which links the Middle East to Europe. This decision comes in response to mounting security concerns in the Middle East and Gulf regions. Previously, the company had already stopped accepting bookings for several Gulf and Middle Eastern destinations. The current suspension serves as a preventive step to safeguard the well-being of its staff, with the shuttle service in the Gulf area set to remain on hold until the situation improves. Moreover, the ME1 route, which runs from the Middle East to Northern Europe, will bypass Dubai's Jebel Ali Port, underscoring the far-reaching consequences of regional conflicts on the international supply chain.
