On March 2, Vodafone unveiled a partnership with Amazon’s low-Earth-orbit satellite network, Amazon Leo. Under this agreement, Vodafone will leverage Amazon’s satellites to furnish network connectivity for 4G/5G base stations situated in remote regions of Europe and Africa. This initiative will support download speeds of up to 1Gbps and upload speeds of up to 400Mbps, thereby reducing the expenses associated with fiber-optic infrastructure deployment. The pilot program is set to launch in the latter half of 2025, with a primary focus on underserved areas along the Mediterranean coast and in sub-Saharan Africa.
