Under the leadership of Zhao Xiang from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a research team, in collaboration with other partners, has developed a 'histidine scanning approach' to tackle the challenges of inadequate recognition sensitivity of natural T cell receptor (TCR) molecules and the propensity of cancer cells to evade immune detection. This innovative method can swiftly pinpoint crucial sites on TCR molecules and boost their sensitivity through targeted modifications, thereby empowering T cells to more efficiently eradicate cancer cells. Mouse-based experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness of this strategy in combating cancer, and the relevant research findings have been published in the esteemed journal Cell.
