On January 12, CITIC Construction Investment Securities made a forecast, stating that by 2026, China is likely to experience a flurry of test flights for recoverable rockets. Such developments are poised to drive down launch costs and boost launch frequency, effectively catering to the burgeoning demand for satellite launches.

In 2025, China achieved a significant milestone by successfully carrying out the inaugural flights of two recoverable rockets: the ZQ - 3 and the Long March 12A. Nevertheless, the technology for first - stage recovery still necessitates further iterative refinement and verification.

It is projected that by 2026, around 10 recoverable rockets will be primed for either their maiden or return flights. Some models are anticipated to successfully achieve recovery. Moreover, with the gradual construction and commissioning of domestic commercial rocket launch pads, along with the continuous enhancement of relevant supporting facilities, the cycle for rocket test flights is expected to be significantly shortened. The annual number of launches is predicted to rise from 92 in 2025 to over 100. This sets a robust foundation for subsequent regular launches of recoverable rockets and strengthens China's satellite transportation capabilities.
