On January 7, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in collaboration with the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Energy Administration, jointly hosted a symposium focused on the power and energy storage battery sector. The primary objective was to standardize the industrial competition landscape. Presided over by Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the meeting highlighted that despite the rapid growth of China's power and energy storage battery industry, certain irrational practices have emerged. These include haphazard construction projects and cutthroat price competition, both of which are detrimental to market stability and undermine the industry's long-term sustainability. To address these issues, the symposium put forth several strategic measures. These encompass bolstering market oversight, intensifying price regulation enforcement, and conducting rigorous product quality inspections, while also cracking down on intellectual property infringements. Furthermore, the meeting advocated for optimizing capacity management through refined monitoring and early warning systems to avert overcapacity risks. It also emphasized the importance of fostering industry self-regulation, guiding enterprises in formulating scientifically sound capacity expansion plans, and enhancing regional coordination to foster a robust and orderly development trajectory for the industry.
