Recently, the U.S. Army has started equipping some tactical vehicles with the second-generation 'Locust' laser weapon system developed by defense contractor AeroVironment. This move signifies that the previously bulky and stationary directed-energy defense equipment is being transformed into anti-drone equipment that can maneuver with the troops. With a unit power of approximately 20 kilowatts, the system has now been deployed on the 'Joint Light Tactical Vehicle' (JLTV) manufactured by Oshkosh, integrating battlefield-proven reliability and over three years of overseas combat improvement experience.
