QiAnXin X Lab has disclosed that the 'Kimwolf' botnet has successfully infiltrated and infected more than 1.8 million Android devices across the globe, with the majority being home smart TV boxes. The geographical spread of this botnet's attacks encompasses 222 countries and regions. In a mere 72-hour span, it has issued over 1.7 billion commands. Moreover, its control server domain has soared to the top of global popularity rankings. Research indicates that 'Kimwolf' and the 'Aisuru' botnet share identical technological roots and infrastructure, suggesting they are likely under the control of the same hacker collective. This botnet boasts the ability to continuously evolve and launch cross-border attacks. At present, the network has been generating profits through methods such as proxy forwarding and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, amassing tens of thousands of dollars on a monthly basis. This poses a significant and grave threat to global cybersecurity.
