The Chinese Academy of Space Technology announced that recently, the 508th Institute under the academy, which independently developed the world's largest 5,000-square-meter high-altitude wind power generation working umbrella, successfully completed its first umbrella opening and closing trials at the test site in Alxa Left Banner, Inner Mongolia, with all predetermined test contents successfully achieved. The area of this working umbrella is equivalent to that of 12 standard basketball courts, setting a new record for China's independently developed umbrella body area. High-altitude wind power generation captures wind energy above 300 meters through autonomously tethered aerial components, achieving the conversion of wind energy into electrical energy. The success of this trial marks a significant breakthrough in China's core technology for high-altitude wind power generation, laying a solid foundation for the engineering application of this technology.
