On November 15, news emerged that recently, the Nan’ao Subdistrict in Dapeng New District, Shenzhen, has officially launched hydrogen fuel cell-powered sanitation vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with gas diffusion layers independently developed and manufactured by Shenzhen General Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Huadian Science & Technology, and have commenced regular operations. This development marks the first-ever application of General Hydrogen’s liquid-cooled fuel cell gas diffusion layer products in vehicles, signifying a major milestone in the company’s deep engagement with the core sectors of the hydrogen fuel cell industry chain.

The gas diffusion layer serves as the “breathing channel” and “conductive bridge” of hydrogen fuel cells, with its performance directly influencing the operational efficiency and lifespan of the cells. Historically, this critical material was dominated by foreign companies. However, General Hydrogen has now set up and begun production on gas diffusion layer production lines with an annual capacity exceeding one million square meters, along with a proton exchange membrane production line capable of producing 300,000 square meters annually.
