Our reporters have learned from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIRI) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences that, in a recent joint effort with domestic partners, the institute carried out a satellite-ground microwave high-bitrate communication experiment at the Lijiang Station. The primary goal of this experiment was to validate high-order modulation and demodulation techniques. Successfully, the experiment boosted the satellite-ground data transmission rate to a remarkable 6.0 Gbps in the X-band frequency range and an astonishing 20 Gbps in the Ka-band. This achievement not only sets a new benchmark for data transmission rates but also represents a significant technological leap forward for China in this domain.
