According to well-informed insiders, Amazon is poised to slash up to 30,000 corporate roles as soon as Tuesday (local time), in a strategic move to curtail costs and rectify the overstaffing issue that arose during the pandemic. While the number of job cuts constitutes a comparatively minor slice of its colossal 1.55 million-strong workforce, it nevertheless equates to nearly 10% of its roughly 350,000 corporate staff. Should this plan materialize, it would mark Amazon's most substantial layoff spree since the company let go of 27,000 employees at the close of 2022.
