On October 25, 2025, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced that China's Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST, also known as the 'Artificial Sun') achieved stable operation of plasma at 100 million degrees Celsius for 1,000 seconds, setting a new global record. It is expected to be completed in 2027 and is poised to become the world's first device to achieve fusion power generation.
