Eddy Cue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, voiced his concerns over the current fragmented state of sports streaming rights, asserting that it has significantly diminished the experience for fans. Cue emphasized Apple's ambition to revolutionize the industry. He noted that, in the past, a single cable TV subscription sufficed for viewers to catch most sporting events. However, in today's landscape, sports enthusiasts are compelled to subscribe to multiple services to keep up with their preferred sports, a situation he described as both costly and cumbersome. Apple's approach involves securing exclusive broadcasting rights for entire sports categories and consolidating them onto a single viewing platform. Its partnership with Major League Soccer stands as a testament to this vision. To further this initiative, Apple is considering divesting some of its Major League Baseball broadcasting rights. Moreover, Apple is on the cusp of finalizing a global media broadcasting rights agreement for Formula 1, valued at $140 million annually. Should the deal materialize, viewers will have the convenience of watching all Formula 1 races exclusively through Apple TV.
