Apple has declared that more than 90% of its manufacturing operations in China have transitioned to renewable energy sources. In a collaborative effort with its suppliers, Apple has introduced the ‘China Renewable Energy Infrastructure Fund,’ boasting a substantial scale of RMB 1 billion (equivalent to roughly USD 150 million). This initiative is co-launched by CICC Capital and Huaneng Investment, with key participation from entities such as ATL, a prominent battery supplier for Apple. The fund is strategically positioned to inject 1 million megawatt-hours of clean electricity into China’s power grid by the year 2030. It will also extend crucial financial backing to renewable energy endeavors across China, encompassing projects in their nascent stages of development.
