On October 7, a delivery ceremony took place in Hefei for the Toroidal Field (TF) Magnet Coil Casing. This casing is a crucial part of the "Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Technology (CRAFT)," a significant national scientific and technological infrastructure project outlined in China’s 13th Five-Year Plan. The TF Coil Casing, which was developed collaboratively by Shanghai Electric and the Institute of Plasma Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, boasts impressive dimensions: it stands 21 meters tall, spans 12 meters in width, and weighs a hefty 400 tons. Crafted from austenitic stainless steel, it holds the title of the world's largest toroidal field magnet coil casing at present. In comparison to similar components in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), its overall size is over 1.2 times larger, and its weight is nearly twice as much. Both the production and inspection procedures for this casing present even greater difficulties than those encountered in the ITER project.
