Google is set to significantly tighten its 'Work from Anywhere' (WFA) policy, a flexible work arrangement first rolled out in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the updated rules, employees are now eligible to request up to four weeks of remote work outside their usual office location annually. However, there's a catch: regardless of whether an employee opts to work remotely for just one day or a full five-day workweek, an entire week's worth of their annual WFA quota will be deducted.
The 'Work from Anywhere' initiative grants employees the flexibility to work from different cities or regions, distinct from the traditional concept of working from home or nearby locations. Moreover, to mitigate potential legal and tax complications, employees are prohibited from working at Google offices located in different states or countries during their designated WFA periods.
Despite these adjustments, Google's existing hybrid work model remains intact, with employees still having the option to work from home two days a week.
