The head of the Russian State Space Corporation, Bakanov, announced that Russia is in the process of developing a satellite internet system designed to compete with the United States’ ‘Starlink’ network. The initial launch of satellites for this project is anticipated to take place in December 2025. On September 17, Bakanov revealed that a number of in-orbit test satellites had successfully undergone inspections, and that the design models intended for mass production had been refined and enhanced. He emphasized that the project is progressing swiftly, with plans for the full deployment of these satellites within the next two years. The system is expected to deliver performance levels on par with those of ‘Starlink’.
