Google had contemplated divesting certain segments of its advertising technology operations in an effort to alleviate antitrust concerns emanating from both Europe and the United States. Nevertheless, its external legal counsel reported that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is pressing for more stringent measures, specifically demanding the divestiture of its ad exchange platform, AdX, along with the separation and sale of associated technologies. This comes after a judge previously determined that Google had unlawfully established a monopoly in the advertising technology sector. The DOJ and Google are scheduled to engage in a two-week hearing next week to deliberate on the necessity of spinning off specific business units.
