Canada's trade deficit contracted in July, driven by an uptick in overall exports, particularly of crude oil and passenger vehicles to the United States. According to data, the merchandise trade deficit stood at C$4.94 billion in July, a decrease from C$5.98 billion in June, although it remained above the level recorded during the same period last year. This marked the sixth consecutive month of a deficit following the imposition of tariffs by the Trump administration, yet it represented an improvement from April's figures.
