At a recent press conference hosted by the State Council Information Office, Sheng Qiuping, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, highlighted the prevailing challenge in China's service consumption sector: a shortage of high-quality service supply. To tackle this issue, the Ministry has embarked on a dual approach of "domestic liberalization and external opening-up" aimed at boosting the availability of premium services. Key initiatives include:

  • Advancing comprehensive pilot programs to widen service industry openness.
  • Expanding pilot projects for openness in telecommunications, healthcare, and education.
  • Incorporating additional service consumption areas into the catalog of industries eligible for foreign investment incentives.

Furthermore, the Ministry is fostering reforms and innovations within the service consumption sector to invigorate business entities and expand the provision of diversified services, encompassing healthcare, elderly care, childcare, and household services. These efforts are aimed at better aligning with the evolving consumption needs of the public.
