On August 25, 2025, Centrus Energy, a leading US energy company, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) and POSCO International. This agreement marks a significant step towards exploring potential investments in the expansion of Centrus' uranium enrichment facility located in Piketon, Ohio. The collaboration aims to foster deeper cooperation between the United States and South Korea in the realm of civilian nuclear energy.
Furthermore, Centrus and KHNP have agreed to augment the volume of uranium enrichment supplies under their existing contract. This enhanced supply commitment, however, is subject to Centrus securing the requisite federal funding for the construction of new low-enriched uranium production facilities.
