China's satellite internet construction has recently witnessed a remarkable surge, with the frequency of satellite launches notably increasing since late July. In just 20 days, China's Star Network (GW) constellation has successfully deployed five groups of low-orbit satellites, bringing the total number of launches to 72. According to reports, relevant authorities are poised to issue satellite internet licenses soon, signifying the dawn of commercial operations for this sector. Both the GW constellation and the Qianfan constellation plan to deploy 13,000 and 15,000 satellites, respectively, and have now entered the crucial phase of mass networking. This rapid advancement aims to adhere to the regulations set by the International Telecommunication Union and fulfill the networking requirements for the first-generation constellation. While the issuance of licenses heralds the beginning of the commercialization journey, it will still take approximately 2 to 3 years before comprehensive satellite internet services become available. Currently, China predominantly relies on high-throughput satellites to provide services in specific regions, and the full commercial utilization of low-orbit satellite internet remains on the horizon.
