On August 26, the Trump Administration intends to terminate a $6 billion offshore wind project in Maryland's coastal waters. According to court documents released on Friday, the Department of the Interior plans to rescind the project's permit, which had been set to install 114 wind turbines approximately 10 nautical miles off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland. This permit was originally granted by the Biden Administration in 2024. Furthermore, the Department of the Interior has also suspended the construction of an offshore wind farm near Rhode Island, which is approximately 80% complete and developed by Denmark's Ørsted. These decisions highlight the considerable challenges facing the U.S. offshore wind industry under the Trump Administration.
