Japan Post has announced the suspension of accepting certain types of mail destined for the United States, effective August 27. This measure stems from the Trump administration's decision to revoke the de minimis exemption policy for small packages. According to Japan Post, the lack of clarity surrounding the implementation procedures for these new US regulations has posed challenges for postal operators worldwide, complicating enforcement efforts. Prior to this change, the policy permitted goods valued at $800 or less to enter the United States duty-free.
