On August 23, the 6,000-meter deep-sea unmanned remotely operated vehicle (ROV) named "Haiqin" successfully completed its maiden deep-sea test in the Zhongsha waters of the South China Sea, thoroughly validating its overall system functionalities and crucial performance benchmarks. Consequently, the research vessel "Sun Yat-sen University" has joined the elite group of Chinese scientific research vessels equipped with 6,000-meter deep-sea ROVs. Developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University with support from Sun Yat-sen University, "Haiqin" boasts a maximum diving depth of 4,140 meters, enabling it to undertake tasks such as observing deep-sea scientific research targets and collecting samples.
